Chas Freeman has, mercifully, withdrawn. The aura of competence so easily radiating early in the transition is fading fast.

It was said of Barack Obama and his coterie that they were the very embodiment of competence. Now we see that the President and his White House are, in fact, exceedingly poor judges of personalities.

A simple inspection of some of Obama's associates (the ones who ended up under the bus) even during the campaign ought to have made this evident.
