Shame on The Toronto Star

Over at MacLean's, Chris Selley dismembers the Star's witless endorsement of the equally witless Miller-speak on handguns. This guarantees I cancel my remaining subscription, and tempts me to take up shooting as a hobby.

And wait a second, the suggested policy—allowing “a few top competitive shooters” to own handguns—would kill the sport in Canada anyway, by making it impossible for anyone to become a top competitive shooter.

Toronto is in another summer of the gun and the Mayor is fiddling away at old and useless themes, and The Toronto Star connives with him. Not really surprising, knowing both of them.

I particularly like the line in the update, which shows the quality of The Star as an independent journalistic organization.

That would be, er, David Miller’s fact sheet.
