Two Pleasant Surprises!

There is a Maple Leaf Lounge at Charles de Gaulle airport!
Even better I am now in it.
Surprise number 2 is that the Iraqi government are announcing the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. While I would personally rather see him sit out a life sentence somewhere, few deserved the fate he got more.
Whether this lessens the vicious insurgency against the Iraqi people or not remains to be seen - no doubt there are others willing to continue slaughtering innocent Iraqis in the name of, well, it is not clear to me what.
In separate news it seems the Iraqi cabinet is being filled finally.
Good luck to this government. If the breaking news is true, this is at least a bit of good news in difficult times for them.

Second-guessing is easy and mine says all of this could have worked better. I would like to think the removal of Zarqawi might reduce the enthusiasm of many people for the slaughter of innocent Iraqis, but who knows.
