What does a Parisian say if you step on his/her toes?
To my great surprise, he/she says what we Canadians think is our unique response when someone butts up against us and it is not our fault - he/she says 'Pardon'! That is my experience. Politesse they do not seem now to lack!

And the answer is 'He sure did'. It is a good question. Of course it was in the better weather days. That seemed to make a difference.
